Old Money Makeup Trend
What elements define old money makeup?
- The elements that define old money makeup are refined, soft, enhancing. There were a few AI generated photos that went viral on Pinterest that everyone was obsessing over. I recall getting shown those photos several times for makeup inspiration. It’s actually a really natural looking makeup look, that is all about placement and glow. I think a great example of a celebrity that does that makeup vibe correctly is Sofia Richie Grainge, her makeup is always pristine and never too much. Very perfectly bronzy and glowy.
What are your tips for recreating the look?
- My tips for creating this makeup look are one, focus a lot on skincare prep prior to makeup application. Think of skin that just has had a facial, remember this is supposed to mimic a rich person, and they have access to the best skin treatments around!
Two, a lot of this makeup has to do with proper placement on the base routine. Make sure to apply glowy products on the high points of the face, I would do this step under the foundation. Putting a glowy highlight under the foundation gives a “glow from within” effect and will not look streaky on the skin.
For the base, use a foundation that’s slightly glowy, but not too much. Make sure to get the perfect shade match, so the foundation is seamless and blends in completely.
Are there any products you'd recommend?
- For the skin prep step, I love to start with a cleanser all over the face to remove any flaky skin or leftover makeup or other skincare product.

For the best under the foundation glowy product, I have to mention Catrice’s Soft Glam Filter, a super versatile highlighter. It comes in all skintones and effortless blends into the base for the perfect old money glow. It’s affordable at only $10, a steal for that vegan, cruelty free formula.

A foundation I recommend that embodies that old money aesthetic is Catrice’s HD foundation, and its old money on a budget! This foundation has a gorgeous natural, long lasting finish. Not to mention it pairs perfectly with the soft glam filter, has a wide array of skin tones, and it has Hyaluronic acid to keep the skin hydrated throughout the entire day.
