Eyeliner on Mature Skin

If a person with mature skin wants to wear eyeliner, what would you tell them to look for in said eyeliner (as a makeup artist)?

-          As a professional makeup artist, I would recommend eyeliner that is longwearing or even waterproof for someone with mature skin. More mature skin tends to have wrinkles/lines on their lids and around their eyes, in addition to perhaps having watery sensitive eyes, which can move around eyeliner. So, it would be best to have an eyeliner resistant to that water and the movements of the eyelid, hence waterproof.

Have you done makeup on mature skin, and if so, what kinds of eyeliners have you trusted?

-          I have done many makeup applications on mature skin, I like to personally use a waterproof or resistant eyeliner pencil that I can blend out slightly and soften. I think softer eyeliner looks the best on mature eyes. I love Catrice’s 20H Ultra Precision Gel Eye Pencil Waterproof! 20 Brownie is my favorite for mature eyes as it's a dark brown instead of black. The liner is buildable, long lasting, and waterproof. Not to mention vegan, cruelty free, and affordable at only 5 dollars.

In what instances should older people not wear eyeliner when doing their makeup/getting it done?

-          Personally I don’t believe in the idea that older people shouldn’t wear or do certain things. You can definitely wear whatever makeup you want regardless. The only instance I can imagine that I wouldn’t recommend eyeliner for mature people is if their eyes were that sensitive.
