Blurred Lips
What is the blurred lip trend and why is it popular right now?
The blurred lip trend is a softer, lived-in approach to an “overlined” lip look. The blurred lip focuses on avoiding harsh lines and emphasizes gradient blending. The look is more approachable and natural-looking while still creating an overlined appearance on the lips and highlighting different lip shapes, all while maintaining a romantic, diffused look.
What are your tips for getting the look?
The key to a stunning blurred lip is texture and placement:
Start with a smooth base: Exfoliate lightly and apply a hydrating lip balm. Follow with the rest of your complexion routine. I leave the blurred lip as the last part of the makeup application.
Go in with a soft applicator: For the blurred effect, I start by shaping the lip and slightly overlining with a pencil brush and powder or cream bronzer, one shade darker than your skin tone. This gives our lips the shape and structure we want, and the color over our lips comes from the lip products in the center. Make sure there are no harsh lines. Everything blends seamlessly with your complexion. You can take a clean, fluffy eyeshadow brush to gently buff and blend out any harsh lines. Follow with the lipstick of your choice. Dab a little on your ring finger, then dab in the center of your lip and pull outwards toward the shading you created with the cream or powder bronzer. Work in tiny layers, emphasizing only the pigment of the lipstick in the center of the lip. You can use that same fluffy brush to fluff over the entire lip, adding another layer of blending.
Layer with intention: Build up pigment slowly — blurred lips are all about soft intensity. You don’t want hard edges.
Keep it tonal: Match your cheek flush to the lip to keep the look cohesive. This brings warmth and harmony to your face without feeling overdone.
Remember, blurred lips should feel relaxed and approachable — it’s beauty with a breezy, lived-in feel.
Product recommendations

Here are a few favorites that I always reach for when creating that perfect blurred lip:
-
Catrice Pillow Plush Peptide Lip Mask: to prep the lips, this is a lush, hydrating formula that balances your lips before makeup.
-
Catrice Butter Like Bronze & Contour palette:
Using the contour side of the powder palette, shape the lips. This will add the shape and dimension to the lips that we’re looking for. You can add touches of the bronzer shade if you want to add a little bit of warmth toward the inner part of the mouth.

Catrice Plumping Lip Liner:
To add any dimension in depth to the lips, use the liner to detail.
