Meet Melly Sanchez

Join us as we meet beauty influencer Melly Sanchez and learn about her sources of inspiration and the leadership role she hopes to hold in five years.

Tell us about the women who inspire you most.

My mom has been the most influential woman in my life. Her fierce independence and willingness to go after what she wants are the attributes that she has instilled in me from a young age.

I’m lighthearted and not afraid to say I’m also inspired by celebrities. I’ve been personally inspired by Jennifer Lawrence’s rapid rise to fame. She’s so unbothered by others’ perception of her and frequently voices her opinions. I also love how much of a trendsetter Rihanna has been throughout her career. Just as she makes a statement wherever she goes, she encourages me to make my own rules as I go.

What's your go-to makeup trick?

Contouring – it’s a foolproof trick that instantly enhances bone structure without any invasive procedures. The Catrice Duo Contour Stick makes contouring super easy for beginners – I’m a fan.

What are your makeup "must haves" that you wouldn't leave the house without wearing, and why?

Concealer is a must every time because it covers the little imperfections without having to commit to foundation. Another must-have is mascara because is gives your eyes a little bit of drama without too much hassle.

What's your biggest beauty mishap?

I can’t stand it when applying mascara on my lower lash line and the wand slips and hits my undereye or the side of my nose. This is especially embarrassing whenever I’m filming a makeup tutorial.

I feel as if everyone should do what works best with their face and not necessarily follow trends.

What trend do you hope will be left behind?

I feel as if everyone should do what works best with their face and not necessarily follow trends. Many times we do something just because it’s the “new trend”. It’s fun to experiment with new makeup, but it’s also important to make sure the trend is appropriate for your personality.

What's the key to confidence?

True confidence is being yourself and loving the person you are.

The key to confidence is also avoiding the trap of comparing yourself to others.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Even though I’m a proud native New Yorker, I hope to be living in LA since I love the combination of beach and city life. I also envision myself being the CEO of my own company.
